About
Reading got me to college for free—the first in a family of political refugees—and I suppose that’s why I made a life of it. I've been a senior editor at Atlas Obscura, senior editor at Thrillist, editor at Culture Trip, and a managing editor at Penguin Random House. Throughout my career, I’ve crossed verticals to cover travel, news, food, wellness, sustainability, and writing for social justices.
Being Chilean-American—descendant from white Europeans and Indigenous Andean people—has given me layered perspectives and a lifelong passion for all things DEI. Also, constant moving from deserts to swamps to cities taught me some serious adaptability. When I’m not at my computer in Brooklyn, I’m either experimenting with recipes, out for a run, trekking through a distant city, or else hiking a trail, preferably in the most wild and remote woods.
